GLCR Pillars (R.A.C.E.S.)

I. Race Series: Put together a year-long series of low-key events ranging from one mile
to an ultra-marathon. Based on a keen attention to detail, these will be measured and
timed races without crazy attention to the award fanfare, t-shirts, or sponsors. Like other track clubs series, these will be competitive races with simple and predictable overall and age-group awards.

II. Attire: Have a GLCR gear so that we can represent our community when racing at
home or abroad. This allows us to connect with others from the community and to
advertise our running group. Attire can include the club-shirt, hats, jackets, racing
singlet's, performance t-shirts, bags, and so on.

III. Community: GLCR is committed to supporting one-another and improving the
community in various, health-related ways. This may include any of the following:
encouraging one-another on training, during races, and so on; reaching out to
elementary, middle-school, and high school kids for fun events that get families
involved; holding regular group-runs and workouts that anybody can join;
participating in campaigns for improving the infrastructure for running on trails,
roads, and bicycle paths; volunteering to help or consult with the large health-related
events that come to town like the Pecan Roll and the Albany Marathon; and
volunteering for local races.

IV. Education: We are available to share our expertise as it pertains to training, nutrition,
injury prevention, form, fitness, and weight-loss with others. This can take the form
of blog-posts, video blog posts, weekly/monthly/annual fitness or training seminars,
couch-to- 5k programs, healthy cooking demonstrations, and personal coaching from a
certified coach for a fee. Sharing stories about our running experiences,
training advice, and so on.

V. Social Events: Doing running and non-running related stuff with other runners.
Dinner parties, beer-tastings or just beer drinking, group trips to destination races,
group trips to local races, our unofficial beer-mile/John Kilpatrick Mountain Dew
Mile, and so on. Spending time with one-another is the main goal of this pillar.
