Summer Youth Training Program:

Our Summer Training Program will include the availability of 4-5 practices a week in coordination with our currently scheduled training events. Coach Jen Perkins, US Track & Field certified running coach and a ACSM certified personal trainer, will be leading this summer’s opportunity. The start date for our Summer Training Program is June 12, 2017.
The program outline includes:
Monday: The middle/high school level Cross Country practice will include: dynamic warm-up, running form drills, workout (hills, intervals, etc), strides, cool down, and stretching. These workouts will be tailored to our participants for optimum efficiency, outcome, and enjoyment. Join us at the Albany State University West Campus (gravel track) @ 5:00pm.
Tuesday: A group run takes place at Wild Side Running Store in Albany at 6:00pm. It is a relaxed setting to gently increase your weekly mileage, 3-mile/4.8K and 5-mile/8K distance options are available.
Thursday: Summer Track Series is a weekly sequence of races that provides a great workout with a healthy dose of friendly competition in a variety of events. Race results are AGE-GRADED, and points are awarded based on place within each gender. An overall Male and Female champion will be awarded at the conclusion of the series. This event is held at the Albany State University West Campus (gravel track) @ 6:00pm.
Friday: Pre-Race Workout technique is offered at the Albany State University West Campus (gravel track) @ 5:00pm. This is a weekly 45-minute strength-building, form, and maintenance routine for runners of all ability levels. These exercises will help strengthen your hips, feet, leg-muscles, and core; and the drills will help you develop a strong, injury-free running form.

Saturday: Local 5K/3.1-mile race. We encourage our runners to race through the summer. It is a great way to quantify improvements in fitness levels and have fun with your running group.
Sunday: Group, long-run, 8am-10am. You can come for any part of it! Run for 2 hours, 1 hour, 30 minutes; it doesn’t matter. Someone will be out there for you to run with. If you show up after 8am, just wait 5 minutes and someone will run by. We are doing a looped course of between 1 to 1.2 miles (alternating road and trail). You will pass by the bathrooms, water fountain, and your car on every loop.
